Best 6 Car Apps in 2018
Ever imagined a world without Google Maps on your iOS and Android? Google Maps revolutionised the way drivers coordinate and plan their road journeys, we would be lost without it — quite literally. The same can be said for free access to music or driving safely on the road. Thankfully, there are plenty of free car apps for drivers to take advantage of.
Here are our top 6 car apps for iOS and Android devices (in no particular order);
Available on both iOS and Android devices, Google Maps offers drivers turn-by-turn navigation, street view, and public transit information.
Waze is a navigational app that helps drivers get to their destination, but the data is contributed by drivers on the exact same road as you’re driving on. It is super again and is based on real time. It will give you all the information on the different hazards, speed limit enforcement, sightings of police cars and traffic accidents. It also allows users to share advice on what has caused road traffic accidents — a very handy car app, indeed.
Find My Car
If you’re like me and you tend to forget where you parked your car in car parks, then the ‘Find My Car’ app is the perfect solution. The ‘Find My Car’ app does exactly what it’s called, it helps reunite you with your long-lost, four-wheel friend. Forgetting where you parked your car will never be a problem again.
Of course, a music app had to make the list. I mean, who doesn’t like to stream music while driving. One of my favourite things about Spotify is you can select playlists according to what mood you’re in. For instance - “Songs to Sing in your Car”.
If you’re a bit of a traveller and you love going on long, adventurous road trips, then the Roadtrippers app is for you! Let’s say you’re planning a trip from London to Edinburgh, Scotland, all you have to do is enter the two locations in the app and, BOOM, a ton of different touristy suggestions come up. It gives you suggestions for hotels, restaurants, sightseeing hotspots, places to walk, etc. The Roadtrippers application also gives you all sorts of information about the specific place i.e pictures, descriptions and reviews/ratings from other users. This is very useful because then you can make a decision about if that particular place is somewhere you would fancy visiting. Another thing that is good about the app is that it will calculate how much you will spend going on this road trip. As you pick and change your road trip, the amount will either rise or go lower.
We live in a world in which more and more people are connected than ever before. With the Drivemode app, you can stay connected whilst remaining fully focused on the road. You can manage calls, messages, music, directions, all the things you regularly do when you’re not driving. You can prompt the car app through voice command and gestures in mid-air, meaning your focus on the road ahead is never disturbed. Because Drivemode is connected on your phone, your music, contacts and favourite locations are always up to date. Also, since popular business apps like Slack and Hangouts are integrated on the Drivemode app, you won’t miss any important updates or team meeting on your commute to work. This car app is only available on Android. Sorry iPhone users.
