2019 Toyota RAV4 - Fantastic SUV

Toyota has unveiled the 2019 Toyota RAV, and on first impressions, it would be an understatement to say it’s nothing short of spectacular! From improved exterior and interior styling, to more powerful engines and new safety and tech mechanisms, there’s plenty to get excited about! Here’s everything you need to know about the next generation RAV4. Read on.

Styling ✅
The all-new Toyota RAV4 receives a completely refurbished look for 2019. Getting straight into some of the details about the styling of the new RAV4, it has a longer 105.9-inch wheelbase, a high ground clearance, low roof line and bonnet. In addition to the outside of the car, it has extended overhangs ( the lengths of a car which extend beyond the wheelbase at the front and rear) as well as a new multi-link rear suspension for better car steering. Overall, it has a more aggressive profile, especially when you consider the amount of blocky lines used which actually makes it look like the design was inspired by the movie Transformers.

The interior design of the new RAV4 is not quite as modern as the exterior. However, there are some really cool features that you’ll probably want to know about. Inside, Toyota has improved the quality of the material and there is more attention to detail, making it more comfortable for passengers. For example, the ridges on the inside of the door handle, that make you want to keep touching them, the brand-new leather seats, and the rubberised knobs for the climate and comfort control which as you can imagine feels really nice to touch. There is more headroom and legroom as well as more boot space too. Now these improvements are not a game changer by any means, but it definitely gives a more comfortable feel to the car. There is also a control knob for switching driver modes next to the transmission lever. For those who are new to the Toyota RAV4, you can switch between 6 driver modes - eco, sport, normal, mud and sand, snow and rock and dirt. The fact that it is a control knob and not six buttons grouped together, makes it really easy to switch between driver modes - another great improvement from the outgoing model.

New Tech ✅
The infotainment system comes standard in 7.0-inches, with the 8.0-inches being optional, and it’s positioned nice and high which makes it easier for drivers to view and navigate. While this essentially is a good thing, because it’s so noticeable, it can be quite distracting for drivers. I personally really like how they’ve combined buttons along the edges with simple displays. Operating an infotainment system has never been simpler.

New Connectivity Features ✅
Moving onto the new tech, the RAV4 features Toyota’s Entune 3.0 software. Entune 3.0 includes Amazon Alexa voice activation via Bluetooth as well as smartphone integration via Apple carplay but not for Android. This news won’t go down well with Android users, but Toyota have their reasons for making this functionality only accessible for iphone. There is also an 800-watt JBL audio system, Qi wireless charging and up to five USB ports. An 8.0-inch screen with satellite and navigation is available as optional.

More Power and Better Fuel Economy ✅
Toyota has immensely developed the new RAV4’s engine size and capabilities. It comes with a 2.5 Litre Dynamic Force Engine; it produces a 218 bhp for the TWV (two-wheel vehicle) and 222 bhp for the AWV (all-wheel vehicle). In terms of acceleration, the RAV4 can go up to 0-100km/h in 8.1 seconds. These figures alone indicate how powerful it is.

Safety Mechanism ✅
All RAV4’s have a total of 8 airbags and Toyota Safety 2.0, which includes adaptive cruise control, road sign detection, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, pre-collision warning and daytime cyclist detection, and lane departure alert with steering assist. Buyers have the option of including blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert and a 360-degree birds eye monitoring system.
