Bosch After Sales Services Provided at Rivervale
Last year we opened our brand-new state of the art facility, the first ever car and van leasing showroom, Rivervale House. One of the hidden gems of the building and business is our aftersales department, located under the showroom floor.
The Aftersales department operates as both a Bosch Car Service centre and a Mercedes-Benz Independent Specialist. As the business has evolved over the years so has our association to multiple brands, some of which Rivervale received official repair and service status for including, Mazda, MG, Skoda, Porsche, Nissan and of course Mercedes-Benz.
The longest serving member of Rivervale has been around to see it all and it his expertise in the area of parts and servicing that awarded him the new role of Aftersales Director. We take a look down memory lane with Simon Sayers to see how Rivervale has evolved in the last 30 years...
When did you join Rivervale?
1987 – I joined at the tender age of 17 as an official Mercedes-Benz apprentice learning all aspects of the business of a car dealership. At that time Rivervale was the largest Mercedes-Benz dealership in the southern region.

How has car and van servicing changed over the years?
The options for the customer have increased. The choice over where to get your vehicle serviced has expanded, for example if you own a Mercedes-Benz you are no longer limited to a main dealer garage to get a service. The choice of service you would like to receive has also increased. There are now many types of service, there are smaller healthchecks you can complete and different levels of service such as the Bosch bronze, silver and gold services.
Everything has become digital, with all vehicles adopting diagnostic capabilities to help our technicians assess and provide the correct care the vehicle requires.
I have 4 Master Technicians who have specialist status across the following brands;
Within the group we have specialists in a number of other manufacturer brands, this is why we have combined them in our Bosch Car Service centre. My experience in the industry has shown me how important it is to be able to offer the ability to work on any make and any model of vehicle.
Where do you see Rivervale and Aftersales in 5 years?
The technology will grow and we will have to continue to adapt to the manufacturers requirements on repairing and servicing the modern day vehicles. This is particularly true as we are seeing more and more hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles on the roads.
I think in 5 years we will be very much driven by technology, forgive the pun, and I also wouldn’t be surprised if servicing your vehicle becomes legislation similar to an MOT.
