Bentleys SUV offering the Bentley Bentayga!
What are Bentley up to now? Bentley began life all the way back in August 1919 when Bentley Motors Ltd was founded by W O Bentley. Bentley has always aimed to provide luxury and performance in one vehicle. Since it began the company has been acquired by Rolls Royce and then in 1997 by Volkswagen, provided the queen with a state limousine to celebrate her golden jubilee and now they are revealing their first drive into the world of SUV’s!
After what seems like years of speculation the name of Bentleys first SUV has been revealed and it is ………….Bentayga ………um it does take some explaining and here’s why this strange name came into being! Bentley believe their new SUV can cope with any environment so the name comes from Taiga which is the world’s largest snow forest and Roque Bentayga a rock in the Canary Islands. In the teaser video released by Bentley the Bentayga is racing up a sand dune so the message really is this SUV can drive anywhere!
We have yet to see the Bentayga in its entirety all we have so far is an image of the vents formed into the iconic Bentley flying B mascot. In the world of motors money seems to be on a big reveal at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September with models going on sale in 2016. Bentley have promised this will be the fastest and most luxurious SUV on the market and so we are guessing the most expensive as well, although the price doesn’t seem to be putting anyone off as Bentley say they have already taken 4,000 pre orders!
Why SUV’s? There has been a massive rise in popularity for the Sports Utility Vehicle thought to be due to the feeling of safety, higher seating position, interior space available, it could be the option of 4WD the list of good reasons to drive an SUV are endless.
