The Rise of the White Van Man !
They are everywhere we look ! Between 2002 and 2012 there was an increase in vans on the road of 29% to 3.3 million. This is thought to be due to the increase in delivery drivers now we are all shopping online and reflects all the self-employed workers whose businesses rely on their vans.
So which is the best van out there ? We take a look at the top selling vans of 2014 so far …….
Coming in at the top spot is the Ford Transit with an impressive 3,772 registrations so far this year and that’s no surprise when we consider the advanced engines that meet stringent Euro stage V emissions standards, the optional rear view camera, Bluetooth via voice control and rain sensing wipers as just a taster of what the Ford Transit has to offer. Incredible value to own at £17,995, and incredible value to lease for your business from £191.83 per month.
The second biggest seller so far this year is ……..another offering from Ford with the Ford Transit Custom which has already notched up 2,320 sales and won the Auto Express van of the year for 2014. It has also boasts a heap of safety features leading to the Ford Transit Custom being awarded a 5 * safety rating by Euro NCAP. Great value leasing at £199.91 per month.
Taking the number 3 spot is the Vauxhall Vivaro with an impressive 1,897 registrations so far. We can see why with a choice of 2 roof heights standard or high roof, choice of 2 wheelbases, choice of 3 diesel engines and 11 storage compartments (to hide away those handy snacks!). Available new from £19,303 or to lease from an incredible £188.62 per month !
The Citroen Berlingo makes an appearance in the 4th position with 1,749 registrations so far, equipped with a host of useful technology and super low CO2 emissions we can see why it’s a popular choice and can be leased from only £133.38 per month. In the 5th spot is the Peugeot Partner with 1,678 registrations so far, it’s the compact van offering a car like driving experience available to lease for only £147.81 !
They may be selling well but how do these vans do when put through the gruelling Arctic van test ? The most challenging of tests, vans are put through 5 days of rigorous testing including : slaloming across a frozen airfield, tackling 434 miles of icy roads, having engine starting tested, heating and demister operations are looked at as well as fuel efficiency, load carrying and handling all in the North of Finland where temperatures can drop to -50 ….brrrrr …… The winners were the Ford Transit van and the Transit Connect so it seems Ford really are reigning supreme in the van world ! See video of the vans being put through their paces here !
………But if it’s attracting the girls you’re more interested in Ford may not be your best choice …….. Check out the van girls throw themselves at here !
