Warnings About Mobile Phones
A mobile phone is a vital tool for any company’s key salesmen that spend their working time out on the road.
But as an employer this vital business tool could potentially land you in some deep trouble. As we all know that it is now illegal to hold and use your mobile phone whilst driving.
Employers have a Duty of Care to make sure that their business car drivers are driving safely and to demonstrate that they have taken suitable steps to exercise their Duty of Care – especially if the worse was to happen and a business car driver is involved in an accident.
There is a chance that company car drivers could put businesses at risk of corporate manslaughter prosecution if the company is shown not to have managed the driver risk properly.
So how can you as an employer ensure that your employees are using their mobile phones safely whilst driving?
By downloading and using the Driver Distraction Prevention app. This app prevents calls and locks the phones keypad to prevent the car driver from either texting or emailing whilst driving, from the moment you pull away.
Drivers will receive alerts to messages and they will be able to retrieve and view them once the car has stopped.
Romex World the creator of the Driver Distraction Prevention app, advises that the software will demonstrate that a company is managing its road risk and driver Duty of Care without having the need to install any expensive hardware in company cars.
Mobile ‘phone use continues to be a major cause of accidents. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) says that drivers using a mobile ‘phone are nine times more likely to be involved in a fatal accident.
