New Race Track In Wales!
Plans have just been approved by the Blaenau Gwent Borough Council for a brand new race track in south Wales costing around £280m. Rather unimaginatively, the track will be named as the Circuit of Wales ! The construction due to start later this year and will be headed by the Valleys Development Company.
The new track is a joint venture funded both from private investment and by the Welsh government. Covering approximately 830 square acres there will be various areas to accommodate a 3.5 mile track, an international level kart track, a Motocross track and an off road driving facility. As you would expect, there will also be a hotel along with retail units. There will also be a training facility alongside a race academy.
This is really great news for employment in the area with the new venture creating around 600 new jobs and generating around £50m per annum in revenue for the UK economy. Completion for the project will be between 2015 and 2016.
Good news all round then, a race track (we all like those), more employment and more money entering our economy, how can we complain at that!
