Record Breaking Cars
What is the fastest, the longest and smallest car and who has the most traffic cones? At Rivervale car leasing we needed to know and here’s what we found!
The smallest roadworthy car – This tiny car was created by Perry Watkins here in the UK in 2009. It measures 104.14 cm high 66.04 cm wide and 132.08 cm long. The body was made from an old postman pat coin in the slot children’s ride; it took 7 months to build and is perfectly road legal!
Longest wheelie in a car – In Canada in 2012 Mike Kunz used a customised PT Cruiser. The floor had cut out areas so there was a proper view of the track beneath …. He managed to go 763.4 metres and straight into the Guinness book of world records.
Well done to David Morgan who has managed to get the world record for……….the largest collection of traffic cones! …Yes really he has 137 different varieties – Well done David!
Fastest Production Car back in 2013 the Hennessey Venom GT manages to travel 0 – 186mph in a tiny 13.63 seconds making it the fastest production car. It’s powered by a 7 litre V8 engine creating a massive 1,244 bhp.
Most people in a mini cooper - we’ve all wondered and now we now the record stands at 28! These were 28 gymnasts though so I’m not sure you could replicate this with your family and friends – unless they are super bendy!
The longest car – The longest car was built by car guru Jay ‘Hollywood’ Ohrberg in America and used 2 Cadillac V8’s, 26 wheels has a pool, helipad and enough seats for 75 of your friends!
Now this one is a bit of a mouthful it’s the record for the most donuts around a car driving on two wheels in one minute – The record stands at 10! This was achieved by Han Yuc and Zhang Shengjum driving a mini 3dr hatchback and a BMW M4 Coupe.
Now this seems strange as when you think of trucks you think of big heavy vehicle – you don’t think of them jumping …….but there is a record for the longest truck jump! It was set here in the UK when EMC teamed up with the Lotus F1 team. The truck managed to jump 83 feet and 7 inches over a moving Lotus Formula 1 car.
From the smallest to the lowest roadworthy car the record for this currently stands at only 45.2 cm tall and is called the Mirai.
We’ve had the most people in a mini now how many people can you fit in a teeny tiny smart car? The record for the most people in a smart car was set in 2011 by the Glendale Cheerleading team who managed to squeeze an impressive 20 members of their team into a 2 seat smart car!
Now did you know your car could be adapted to run on coffee the longest journey by a coffee powered car was made in 2010 by a classic 1988 Volkswagen Scirocco it travelled 210 miles from London to Manchester on nothing more than coffee. The car heats the coffee granules in a fire to release carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas, the hydrogen is then used to power the engine!
The title of highest mileage vehicle has been set by Irvin Gordon’s 1966 Volvo which has travelled a really impressive, massive 2,850,000 miles!
What could your car set the record for?
