Suitable for cruising around the city with ease or keeping its passengers happy and comfortable on long trips across the country, the Proace is applicable to a wide variety of people and is suitable for a number of different lifestyles. As briefly mentioned above, there are three different engine types available, which means you’re able to choose a level of performance to match your lifestyle and your driving preferences.

First of all, you’ve got the 1.5-litre diesel engine, with 118bhp. This is relatively small for the size of the van… which gives it a 0-60 rate on the slower side of 12 seconds. Though perhaps a more financially friendly option, for those who want a little more power, there are other choices out there. Either a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 138bhp or a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 178bph.

This option is also fitted with a standard automatic gearbox system and is available with nine seats rather than 8. More spacious, with a 0-60 rate of just 8.8 seconds, this speedier, more powerful version of the Proace will set you back a little more in terms of cost.

Surprisingly nimble and compact for its size, the Proace can easily glide through the city streets. It’s even more suited to those longer journeys, though, cruising perfectly along those longer roads. But whilst it’s a relatively smooth ride, a peaceful journey in the Proace is unfortunately marred slightly by a fairly noisy suspension, especially given the rising competition of almost silent electric cars. Although, there is something to be said from a more traditional driving experience, so this would only bother a small few.

Safety is important for any popular family vehicle. The Proace offers parking sensors, cruise control, and additional features like a 180-degree camera, automatic city braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Of course, one of the biggest perks of the Proace is its spacious interior - in its nine-seater version, it outshines many of its seven-seater competitors just with that room for extra passengers… or with its additional legroom. But even with more seats, you’re never pressed for space: the Proace feels huge inside, and adults can fit on all three rows of the vehicle.

There are two options in terms of length, medium and long, the latter of which holds a boot of a whopping 980 litres. On either version though, the cabin area has large door pockets and two spacious glove compartments.

Though there are other vehicles with more glamorous interiors, drivers have the option to choose leather seats and add a little bit of flair. Ultimately, the Proace looks like what it is: a van. The materials inside are durable, capable of withstanding their fair amount of wear-and-tear.

In terms of interior tech features, there’s a 7-inch Infotainment panel. This has Bluetooth, a sat-nav, Apple Carplay/Android Auto as well as smartphone mirroring and a USB socket, all of which is reasonably easier to use.Toyota Proace Interior

Overall, the Proace is an easy drive which will suit a number of people, particularly those who frequently take long trips with many passengers. It’s an ideal family vehicle, with its vast amount of space, comfortable seating, and durable interior, plus its safety features are perfect for putting parents’ minds at ease. What it may lack in aesthetics - it’s fairly standard for a van in its appearance - it absolutely makes up in practicality.

With reasonable levels of variation and performance options to suit a number of different drivers and budgets, the Toyota Proace is absolutely a vehicle to consider for your next minivan. Take a look at our current leasing deals, or get in touch if you’d like to learn more.
