Driving Education Forward

As a parent and a Governor myself I often get asked about the benefits of running a school minibus. Some schools run 10, others have just 1 but all schools agree once you have had the benefit of a school minibus on site its hard to give this up.
Research shows that healthier and happier children do better in school, The outdoor environment encourages skills such as problem solving and negotiating risk which are important for child development. We have to accept that learning doesn’t just happen within four walls.
Technology has a lot to answer for regarding children’s sedentary time, so let’s get them outside, learning and having adventures.
Roald Dahl once said, “The more risks you allow children to take, the better they learn to take care of themselves.”
How Can You Get Kids Active and Outdoors?
Having a bus offers endless amounts of opportunity for kids outside of the class rooms.
It encourages children to grow outside of school life. With options starting from 9 seat all the way up to 17, with accessability and individual school requirements always tailored for, the opportunities are endless.
My feeling is the question you should be asking if you are involved in education and youth development in any area is not can we afford to have one BUT can you afford not to have one?
I have not been told by any school, college or otherise that they would not like a minibus or additonal minibus as the transportation capacity has a knock on effect to a number of activities and opportunities any institution can offer to its students. What I do experience however is how the restraints of budgets within education make acquiring a minibus a daunting task for anyone. So, I always have this response....if you consider a daily rental on a bus can vary from £80 to £150 per day and a lease can be as little £20 are you really looking at the bigger picture?
So how can I help you?
With the right package you can budget effectively, which has to be a plus with Government cuts to school funding, fully maintained options are a great idea for peace of mind. Also having your school logo, mission statement and an advert of the school on the bus, is the prefect advertising tool to show people and parents what you can offer their young children looking for a potential school. You may even be able to offset some of the cost into marketing/advertising budgets!
What are the Benefits?
In some circumstances a regular pick up and drop off is the only way a child will get to school, parents can struggle to ensure their child will even go through the school gate every day, so for the school to collect and return them safely is priceless.
And of course we can participate in sporting fixtures, DofE, trips to the museums, the beach the countryside, the Church the Mosque the list is endless.
A minibus can be a very practical and cost effective asset for schools and colleges. However the regulations and law surrounding their use can throw up some very complex issues. These issues should not be ignored – failing to comply with the regulations could have serious consequences. Your school as well your drivers could be prosecuted, your vehicles could be impounded, and your insurance policies voided.
Minibuses will only add to school life!
How about a genuine impartial call to discuss how I can help?
'Having conducted a competitive tender process across eight providers, for the supply of two Mini Buses for two of the schools within our Trust, Rivervale offered the best total package price for a five year lease which included a maintenance package. My contact, Sharon Gilpin, was extremely efficient and very quickly had all the required paperwork completed and across to me for our internal sign-off's.
The process to approve logos and artwork design was as equally smooth, and delivery was exactly as advised by Sharon and exactly as I had sought.
Whilst I will always be required to run a competitive tendering process for the future supply of Mini Buses for our Trust, I will have no hesitation in inviting Rivervale to participate again, and equally have no hesitation in recommending their service in this area to others'.
