Nissan’s Car Share Scheme and All-New Micra
For the majority of people, purchasing a car is a massive expense so Nissan have come up with a new car sharing system – Nissan Intelligent Get and Go Micra! Participants will be grouped into small communities who will jointly own the car ...
This new scheme was announced by Carlos Ghosn, Nissan CEO and Chairman at a web summit recently held in Lisbon, Portugal. The idea is to group similar persons together into communities. Each community will then jointly own an All-New Nissan Micra. Customers are grouped together using social profiling and geo-localisation making this an entirely digital project. Included in the scheme for each member of the community will be insurance, servicing, the smartphone app and in car technology. There is a 9,320 mile limit on the distance each community car can travel in a year and to pay each member will receive an invoice whose amount will reflect their usage each month. Unlike other car share schemes the vehicle is purchased, not leased. This raises questions such as when is the car then sold? How is money from the sale split? Do those who have used the vehicle more receive less?
This idea comes from the Nissan Intelligent Mobility principle which reflects 3 areas of innovation that will move drivers forward to a safer and more sustainable future. Nissan Intelligent Driving focuses on autonomous vehicles, Nissan Intelligent Power focuses on increasing efficiency and electric vehicles and Nissan Intelligent Integration looks at the links between vehicles and society, this is where the car share scheme fits in.The car share scheme is due to be launched in Paris by the end of the year with the first vehicles appearing on the roads in April 2017.
The all new Micra is available to order from December 2016 and you don't have to share, you can have one all to yourself!!
The Micra's new body design is the sportiest looking yet, the roof has been lowered, up to date LED’s feature in the headlights and even the rear door handles have been hidden to create a sleek line. Journeys in the all new Micra will also be quieter than ever before as optimal noise insulation has been added inside.
