Production Increase For Ford’s Fiesta ST
We all agree that the new shape Fiesta is a massive success due to it being such a pretty car but Ford have reported that their expected orders for the award-winning Fiesta ST have been doubled!
Since the ST went on sale at the end of March, over 3000 orders have been place in the UK. Considering that Ford expected to take around 5000 orders a year they are well ahead of that with a run rate of 750 per month so far. As a result of the increase in orders, Ford have announced that the ST production line will increase by 15 per cent, completing 60 cars per day.
Vice President of Ford Europes Marketing, Sales and Service, Roelant de Waard commented ‘The customer and media reaction to the Fiesta ST has been extraordinary. It’s really become an instant classic and orders have been extremely strong. We are doing what we can to increase production and try to meet demand’.
It seems that the Fiesta ST is following in the footsteps of its bigger brother, the Focus ST which was launched in summer 2012. By gaining 4000 sales in the first six months, the Focus ST was the best selling hot hatch in quarter one and quarter two Europe wide.
