The Nissan Ariya - Premium & Versatile For An Affordable Price

In 2019 the Japanese Manufacturer Nissan unveiled their new electric crossover SUV. Released in the summer of 2022, the Ariya hosts the same unique ‘electric vehicle platform’ as the Nissan Leaf and aims to stand up to the competition in this ever-growingly competitive market.

Packed full of technology, safety and comfort features; the Nissan Ariya is a self-proclaimed 'force of wonder' with its optional e-4ORCE technology, dual motors and four-wheel drive technology. In this article, we take a deeper look at this vehicle. Could this be your next electric lease deal? Jim for the Rivervale Sales team gives us a tour of this vehicle in our video review.

Introducing the Nissan Ariya

Nissan has done a great job at creating a polished and well-rounded electric family SUV, comparable to the Nissan Qashqai (Electric), Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Volvo C40 Recharge. The Ariya comes with 63kWh and 86kWh battery options, providing a range of around 223 miles or 310 miles respectively, these ranges are more than sufficient for daily life. For more information on electric range, read our guide on the actual benefits of going electric?

Coupled with a decent recharge time of 10-80% in 35 minutes on an up to 130kW charger. At home, a standard 7kW charger will take up to 14 hours from 0-100% power. Although, it is worth bearing the E-Pedal Battery Regeneration feature in mind. It not only regenerates power but also automatically creates air resistance which slows down the vehicle. This relieves stress from the car’s breaks, meaning that they will not be worn out as quickly as an ICE car.

Nissan Ariya BronzePerformance-wise, the Nissan Ariya keeps its head down. With a ‘quick off the mark’ acceleration (0-62mph) of 7.5s and a top speed of 99mph, it won’t be setting records, but certainly won’t leave you disappointed! These statistics are similar to the popular Kia EV6 and Hyundai IONIQ 5.

The Ariya’s four-wheel drive range-topper is the E-4ORCE which improves upon the other versions due to the introduction of a dual electric motor. This technology boosts the acceleration to 5.7s and increases the top speed to 124mph.

Interior Technology & Features

The part where this vehicle shines is the well equipt and luxurious interior of the vehicle. All 5 seats are heated and the cabin floor is completely flat, which makes the journey more pleasant for the whole family. Additionally, the steering wheel, centre console and front seats are adjustable and can have their positions saved to individual profiles so that there’s no inconvenience caused by the car being shared!

Some of the advanced safety technology onboard, including:

  • Intelligent Around View Monitor to help you park and be warned of potential danger

  • ProPILOT Assist technologies to help the driver stay safer in their lane

  • Intelligent Forward/Backward Collision Warning, this will automatically decelerate the car if it detects danger

  • Intelligent Rear View Mirror, you can switch your normal mirror to show a camera view with the press of a button!

Notable additions to the Nissan Ariya include:

  • A full-length panoramic sunroof

  • Wireless phone charging

  • BOSE Premium Soundsystem

  • Dual 12.3" Digital Screens

These premium features are well implemented and make driving the Nissan Ariya an experience in itself!

Nissan Ariya Interior

Body Shape

The exterior

The car is about the same size as the aforementioned competitors, such as the Volvo C40 Recharge or Kia EV6. All of which contain a good amount of interior space. Nissan has focused more heavily on space within the cabin than space for luggage. The boot space is only 408L, whereas the boot space of the EV6 is 490L. However, this is not necessarily a drawback as it depends on how regularly you need to use this much boot space.

Nissan has designed the Ariya with 10 colour options to choose from (four monotone and six two-tone options). These include the classic Akatsuki Copper and the elegant Aurora Green.

The interior

The cabin is hugely spacious when compared to other cars of similar dimensions. This is due to the flat floors, moveable centre console and slightly smaller boot; all to make long journeys all the more enjoyable.
