The Nissan Juke: Years of Experience, Bold Style & a Hybrid Engine

The Nissan Juke: Years of Experience, Bold Style & a Hybrid Engine

Originally launched in 2010, the Nissan Juke was a pioneer of its time. Combining the high-riding stance of an SUV with a more modest price tag, practical size and bold style, it’s not surprising it made quite an impact on the market.

It’s a car that certainly stands out, with its quirky looks and bold design. But since its early days, the Juke has had quite the makeover. It retains its bold design, but with a sleeker, more high-tech feel.

In this article, we take a look at the ins and outs of this instantly recognisable vehicle to help you figure out if it’s the right car for you.

Out with the old

In 2019, Nissan updated their popular Juke model and released a new, improved version. While the more up-to-date model is different in many ways, it still has many of the same features that made the original car such a beloved choice with the public.

While the model’s distinctive looks still prove popular, it offers a different take on off-road styling as well as an elevated view of the road and a more eye-catching look than your regular hatchbacks.

Nissan Juke Side

An instantly recognisable design

The original design has been upheld, including those unique upside-down headlights and hidden rear door handles that give a sleek look from the get-go. However, the newer model has welcomed some modernisation and has a stronger, more robust stance while out on the road. Alongside this, the rear number plate and Nissan badge reside in a well-defined hexagonal design.

New or old, the Nissan Juke holds up on the design front as being one of the most aesthetically recognisable cars out there. There is, quite literally, nothing quite like it. From a well-known model to the less well-known, read our list of the most unique car body shapes ever made.

Nissan Juke Interior

Under the bonnet

Since the shape of the Juke has been updated, the newer version should feel more nimble and nippy out on those country corners. With ambitious steering and a decent throttle, it’s more than OK to drive. Plus, it’s available with a modern 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine or, if you fancy something with a little more power, get your hands on the 1.6-litre petrol version fitted with a hybrid system. This addition allows the Nissan Juke to compete with those other hybrid rivals with ease.

Sit back and enjoy the ride

Possibly the most notable and welcome update of the new Nissan Juke is how much bigger the interior is. Yes, adults can actually comfortably sit in the back now. Plus, the boot is also more spacious, meaning you can fit your shopping in without having to crowd up the back seat. Although the interior enjoys increased room, the Juke is still short enough to be easily parked on those busy city streets, and it’s lighter too. All in all, you can’t really go wrong with an everyday car. Another staple in the EV market is the Hyundai IONIQ 5, arguable the best modern-day car.

Nissan Juke Safety Feature

Going hybrid

Yes, you read that right. Nissan has finally chosen to go hybrid with the Juke. The manufacturer has a pledge for 75 per cent of their cars to be electrified in one way or another by 2023. The Nissan Juke has taken a step in the right direction, and this change will make it an appealing feature for many. Unsure on what a hybrid is?
